One challenge in the study World History is that it is vast. It is not possible in a single school year to go into depth on all the topics available. In order to supplement our inquiry, allow students a choice in their learning, and hone our research and presentation skills, an individual project will be completed by each student during the year. We will spread out the presentations over both semesters, and each student will sign up for a presentation slot during one of the designated weeks. The choice of subject and time slot is up to the student and will be selected on a first come-first served basis. See me when you have your proposal ready, and we will work to sign you up for your preferred time slot. This will be an individual assignment.
As you consider your topic, keep in mind that it should be neither too broad nor too narrow. World War II is too broad to do justice with a presentation that is between 7-10 minutes. The attack on Pearl Harbor would be a more fitting choice. Choose an historical event that is a passion or something about which you have always wanted to learn. The “History of Skateboarding” or the life of Nelson Mandela are just a couple possibilities. You have the entire arc of Human History from which to choose. |

This was mostly done in class. We investigated Catal Huyuk artifacts in class and worked on a QPEA. That QPEA then became the paragraph that you wrote a rough draft, peer edited, and then created a final draft.

Revolution Writing Assignment:
Directions: The purpose of this assignment is to connect revolutions in the past to the French Revolution and to think about the Causality of events. Think about the Revolutions that we have talked about in the past (Enlightenment, Protestant Reformation, Renaissance). Based on what you know from these revolutions and the French revolution, come up with strong paragraph to answer the following question. Use a PEA format to organize your writing and use the 5Cs of Historical Thinking to formulate an argument (compare and contrast would work great!!)
Question: Which is more important to a revolution: the long-term or short-term events/effects? WHY?
